Champagne from Sezanne (a bit off the beaten track, s w of Epernay)

Oddly enough their website says nothing at all about the brand as a champagne producer, although other sources say production is 48k bottles (but website does give a description of their champagnes in the 'buy' section) and seems to concentrate as much on their sale of other champagnes , other wines from other regions and Cognac and Armagnac. More of a general wine merchant than a flag-flying producer in fact. They also seem to have a brisk trade in vegetables. Gets no mention in Guide Curien under Sezanne.

Does it say who the producer is at the foot of the label? It may be a cooperative selling under the brand of one of its members. Could be Esterlin - they have a lot of adhérants in the Sezanne direction - or possibly by Le Brun de Neuville at Bethon

I have seen one good report of their Cuvée Absolue

On the face of it, no particular value or interest - might as well drink it - and sooner rather than later

PS (June 2008) are you sure it says 1900 on the bottle?  If so, not surprising there's no trace of this producer 108 years later, and certainly not worth drinking.  Could have value as a curiosity
